Oh, my friends. I had such things planned for us today.
To go along with the announcement of the Classic Snacks Made from Scratch giveaway winner, there was going to be chocolate, and lots of it. I was going to share a gooey, sugary sweet candy fondant recipe and an DIY Easter candy hack that would make Pinterest proud.
Sadly, none of that happened...
The path to this post was paved with good intentions. In keeping with the theme of Classic Snacks Made from Scratch and Homemade Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs, I was going to share a recipe for homemade Cadbury Creme Eggs. The milk chocolate was tempered to just the right consistency. The creamy "yolk" filling tasted spot on. I swirled the chocolate around in the lightly oiled plastic eggs, nestled each one into a cardboard crevice of an egg crate, placed them in the freezer and hoped for the best.
Sadly, the best that I got was cracked chocolate that clung with its life to the side of each plastic egg. As much as I delicately tried to coerce the chocolate to come out on its own, it didn't. No sweet talking or trip under the faucet could make these guys come out. I admit defeat. I have lost this battle with homemade Cadbury eggs. So it's back to the drawing board for this recipe and back to the store in the meantime for the real stuff. You know, for "research."
