It's always hard to get back into the swing of things. To say I've had a busy summer would be an understatement. I've traveled for a work conference in Hawaii and three different food blogging conferences. And between my best friend getting married (!) and my sister having a baby (!!), I've hosted bachelorette weekends and baked cupcakes for baby showers and weddings. I've been darting up and down the East Coast every weekend, only making pit stops for extensive burger research [#priorities].
With all that traveling and running around, I had little time for extra baking, let alone blogging. Though I'm thankful for a summer jam-packed with happy moments and wonderful things (and some to come!), now that August is here and things are winding down, I'm also happy to get back in my kitchen!
With that being said, one of the first things I made when I got back from the wedding was Bourbon Peach Goat Cheese Ice Cream for the Maker's Market Contest at Reading Terminal Market. A giant indoor market filled with fresh produce, cuisine from all over the world and the Best Sandwich in America, it's definitely on my list of happy places here in the city.
So when I was approached to enter the Maker's Market Contest, I knew I wanted to make time to enter! The contest is designed to highlight the vast variety of foods you can find at Reading Terminal Market. With everything from spice shops to cheesemongers (with cheese aged in a cave under the building), meat purveyors, produce stands and more, it was hard to figure out where to start! But, given that I hadn't had a chance to spend any quality time with my ice cream maker, I figured a seasonal ice cream flavor could never go out of style. With perfectly ripe peaches that smelled of summer, fresh cream, a splash of bourbon and the creamy tang of goat cheese how could I go wrong?
If you'd like the recipe for this summery, seasonal Bourbon Peach Goat Cheese Ice Cream, you can head on over to the Maker's Market Contest Page (you'll need a facebook account to vote!).
While you're there, check out the delicious recipes from other Philly-area folks. I'll post the recipe on here once the contest is done, but be sure to vote! Voting takes place from August 17th - 23rd and the winning recipe gets a $75 gift certificate to use at Reading Terminal Market. (think of all the amazing things I could bake and share with you on this blog if I won! Not that I'm telling you to vote for me or anything ;)
...and when you're done browsing all the delicious recipes there, feel free to leave me a comment or tweet me and say hi! I've missed the blogging world and readers like you while I've been away!
